Not bad for a fat girl

It Has Arrived!

Finally, yesterday it showed up. Yesterday, midway through the month of December, less than two weeks before Christmas, it showed its face in the dark recesses of my mailbox. Yes, it is the long awaited, much anticipated, highly sought after, FIRST Christmas Card of the Season!

Not just the first one from a friend, but the first one period. There hasn’t been one from the insurance agent, the auto shop, my alma mater, or even any of my students. Imagine the joy I felt reaching into the mailbox and finding this card from a dear college friend. The envelope was beautifully decorated and hand addressed, and the sparkles lit up my evening. I was especially delighted to hear from this friend, as I know she’s had some trying times recently.

Without further ado, here is the lovely card she sent, so that it may spread holiday cheer to you as well.

The First Christmas Card of the Year

I'm a middle aged woman doing the things that middle aged women do and trying not to beat myself up. I'm living the life I choose with the man I love, the grown up son who impresses me all the time, and the most adorable pup ever rescued from the euthanasia list. We live in the heat of the Southwest, where I regularly sweat through my Lane Bryant bras.

If you don’t accept awards or have already received this one because I’m not the only blogger who thinks you’re loyal, kind, and amazing…well, you know what to do. 😉

Here goes – If you don’t accept awards or have already been given this award (perhaps many times) because others have already recognized how awesome your blog is, no problem, just know, you all make it easier to get through!!! Thanks.

The dearth of cards is strange. I am experiencing it also except for one that came from a client with the cheque for November gardening work.

Nothing like getting a Christmas card in the mail to make you feel tingly on the inside – and the more sparkles/glitter the better!

I know some people consider Christmas Card sending to be wasteful and not eco-friendly, but I’m definitely a fan. I got all mine out early last week. A big “Happy Holidays to all my friends and family” message on facebook just doesn’t cut it, in my opinion. 🙂
